About CapyDeploy

What it is, what it isn't, and why it exists.

What is CapyDeploy

CapyDeploy is an open-source, cross-platform tool for deploying games from your PC to handheld devices (Steam Deck, ROG Ally, Lenovo Legion Go, and any Linux-based handheld).

It was born from a real limitation: Valve's SteamOS Devkit Client only works with SteamOS devices. As the handheld market expanded with devices running Windows, Bazzite, ChimeraOS, and other operating systems, the need for a universal deployment solution became clear.

CapyDeploy uses a Hub-Agent architecture: the Hub (your PC) discovers and sends games to Agents (handheld devices) over WebSocket, with automatic mDNS discovery and secure 6-digit pairing.

  • A game deployment tool for developers testing builds on handheld hardware
  • A DRM-free game manager for games you legally own (GOG, itch.io, Humble Bundle)
  • A retro gaming organizer for legally obtained content
  • A platform-agnostic alternative to Valve's SteamOS Devkit Client

What CapyDeploy is NOT

  • NOT a piracy tool. CapyDeploy does not download, crack, or distribute games.
  • NOT a DRM bypass. It does not circumvent any copy protection mechanisms.
  • NOT a game distribution platform. It transfers files between your own devices on a local network.
  • NOT a game store or launcher. It manages deployment, not purchasing or playing games.
